EDUCATION - FESTIVALS GENERAL INFORMATION
The Armagh Planetarium outreach team regularly travels throughout Ireland to take part in science festivals and other special events. We annually participate in the Waterford and Galway Science Weeks and have also taken part in events in Derry, Sligo, Dundalk, Dublin, Belfast, Newtownabbey and Armagh at other times of the year.

WHAT DO WE PRESENT AT SCIENCE FESTIVALS?
The special science event activities are usually based around the StarDome, our portable planetarium. Either the show arrives at a school and spends the day there, or, alternatively, the StarDome is set up at a central venue and children are delivered to the site for their visit. While an audience is enjoying a Stardome show, one of our presenters can cover other science topics (including demonstrations) in parallel. As well as catering for school groups we are happy to tailor our programme for audiences of all ages.

(LEFT) AN OFFSHOOT OF THE GALWAY SCIENCE FESTIVAL IS 'HEARTSTUFF' SPONSORED BY MEDTRONIC. DURING THESE WORKSHOPS PUPILS LEARN HOW THE HEART WORKS AND THEY EVEN GET TO PERFORM KEYHOLE SURGERY.
