ARMAGH
PLANETARIUM TEAM VISITS GALWAY SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
FESTIVAL
For
the third year in succession the Armagh Planetarium
Educational Outreach Team was delighted to
be asked to take part in the Galway Science
and Technology Festival. Organised by the
Galway
Education Centre and sponsored by Medtronic
this festival has grown to become one of the
most popular science festivals in Ireland.
This year was no exception with over 16,000
people participating in events throughout
the week.

Dr
Mason enhanced the usual astronomy related
shows with a innovative new science workshop
which introduced 'Keyhole Ken'. Ken is a special
dummy into which a pinhole camera can be inserted
in order to see his organs such as his intestine
and heart. By pretending to be surgeons children
had a wonderful time exploring Ken's internal
parts and in doing so learning about how their
own hearts work and the technological advances
which help to keep us healthy.
