VOYAGER DAY COMPETITION
Thank you to all our visitors who took part in the 'Win the Solar System' competition on 20th August 2007. This competition was part of a series of events to mark the 30th anniversary of the launch of Voyager 2, an interplanetary space probe which, along with its twin Voyager 1, has been exploring the outer gas giants of the Solar System and their moons for three decades. The Voyagers carry on board a Golden Record which holds sounds and images depicting life on Earth, and could potentially be played by an extra-terrestrial life form.
Visitors were asked to design their own Golden Record, with sounds and images of their choice. We had a great response to the competition, with serious and not so serious entries from young and old. After much deliberation we came up with our winner. We were all very impressed with the originality of her answers, as you can see below.

Well done to Oriel, age 8 from Killinchy.
Oriel wins a Remote Controlled Solar System which she can put up in her bedroom and explore the planets of our Solar System for herself. Let's hope she doesn't come across any extra-terrestrials though!
